The Friends to Re-elect Addie Eckardt made a one-time gift to establish the Addie Eckardt Annual Nursing Scholarship for students who have been admitted into Wor-Wic’s nursing program or are pursuing a career in psychiatric nursing. Students must reside in Wicomico, Dorchester, or Caroline County. The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, books and cost of attendance. Selection is based on scholastic achievement with preference given to financial need.





American Legion Spring Hill Post 237 Scholarship

The American Legion Spring Hill Post 237 provides $1,000 and the Sons of the American Legion Spring Hill Squadron 237 provides $500 each year for this scholarship. Eligible recipients must have be on active duty, National Guard, or Reservists or have been honorably or medically discharged from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force or Coast Guard. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Recipients must have completed at least 12 credit hours at Wor-Wic with a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 or higher being maintained. Preference is given to a student who is eligible for membership in an American Legion Post.





Annamae Perdue Vincent Scholarship

AnnaMae Perdue Vincent of Salisbury, a 1945 graduate of the Peninsula General Hospital School of Nursing and mother of the late Wicomico County Deputy State's Attorney Sam Vincent, established an endowed scholarship fund for students who are enrolled in the associate degree nursing program. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on financial need, and recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average. Preference is given to students who are residents of Wicomico County and planning to work on Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore.





Anne Kathryn Smith Scholarship

The Student Government Association established an endowed scholarship in memory of the late Anne Kathryn Smith, a chemical dependency counseling student from Snow Hill. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Recipients must have completed at least 15 credit hours in one of Wor-Wic's credit programs of study, have a 3.0 grade point average and currently be registered for at least six credit hours. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Preference is given to students who are majoring in chemical dependency counseling.





Arnold Maner Scholarship

Friends of Dr. Arnold H. Maner established an endowed scholarship in honor of Wor-Wic's founding president who retired in June of 2000 after 25 years of service. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.





Avery Hall Insurance Scholarship

The Avery Hall Insurance Group provides $1,000 in scholarship funds each year for business degree-seeking students with a preference given to students enrolled in the Risk Management and Insurance Associate of Applied Science degree. Selection is based on scholastic achievement.





Bank of Ocean City Scholarship (Credit)

The Bank of Ocean City provides renewable scholarship funds for students who are enrolled in a credit program taking 6 or more credits with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher or students who are enrolled in one or more non-credit courses including continuing education and workforce training. The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, books and cost of attendance. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Preference is given to Worcester County Residents.  





Bank of Ocean City Scholarship (Non-Credit)

The Bank of Ocean City provides renewable scholarship funds for students who are enrolled in a credit program taking 6 or more credits with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher or students who are enrolled in one or more non-credit courses including continuing education and workforce training. The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, books and cost of attendance. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Preference is given to Worcester County Residents.  





Barbara Hall Scholarship

The late Elizabeth S. Hall of Salisbury established an endowed scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in memory of her daughter, Barbara Rogers Hall, who worked in emergency medicine for most of her professional career. Applicants must be residents of Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County and enrolled in emergency medical services at Wor-Wic. Selection is based on scholastic achievement.





Barnes & Noble Textbook Scholarship

The Barnes & Noble Textbook Scholarship can be used to help offset textbook expenses that are not covered by other sources of financial aid.  Textbooks must be required for the course(s) in which the student is enrolled and must be purchased from Wor-Wic's bookstore. Funding is for the purchase of textbooks only. Supplies and materials are not eligible. Students may only receive the scholarship once per academic year (fall, spring, or summer). The textbook scholarship can be reduced or cancelled at any point if textbooks costs are covered by another source of financial aid or textbook purchase is not made at Wor-Wic's bookstore.

To be eligible, students must meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policies and have established financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Award amounts vary by the number of credits enrolled: $100 (1-5 credits), $200 (6-8 credits), $300 (9-11 credits), and $400 (12+ credits and students enrolled in allied health programs).

Students who are awarded the Barnes & Noble Textbook Scholarship will be able to start charting textbooks to their financial aid accounts, up to the awarded amount, when the financial aid accounts open at the bookstore.



 





Billie Cooper Scholarship

Friends and family members of the late Billie Mae Cooper, founder of the Cooper Insurance Agency in Salisbury, established an endowed scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for students enrolled in Wor-Wic's physical therapist assistant program. Priority is given to Wicomico County residents. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.





Board of Trustees Scholarship

The board of trustees provides a two-year, full-tuition scholarship for the most academically talented high school senior applicant from each of the 10 public high schools and two of the four private high schools in Worcester, Wicomico, and Somerset counties. Applicants must have at least a 3.25 grade point average on an unweighted 4.0 scale, they must apply for admission to Wor-Wic before April 1 of their senior year in high school, they must complete the 2024 High School Seniors Scholarship Applicationand they must be residents of Wicomico, Worcester, or Somerset Counties at the time of application and through the duration of their award. 

The one student with the highest GPA overall from each of the ten public high schools and two of the four eligible private high schools will receive the Board of Trustees scholarship. 

Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average and enroll in consecutive fall and spring terms. Recipients can use the scholarship funds in the summer terms as long as they do not exceed 70 credit hours. 

Estimated value of the award is $7,000 annually though the final award amount will vary by student based on their specific tuition charges for each term that they remain eligible.





Bowdle Family Scholarship

The Claudell Bowdle family of Salisbury provides a two-year scholarship in the amount of $5,000 each year for a resident of Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County who has been admitted into the nursing program. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.





Brian Heller Scholarship

In memory of their son, Deputy 1st Class Brian K. Heller, who died in the line of duty in 2000, Connie and David Widmann of Parsonsburg, other Heller family members, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 50 and the Worcester County Sheriff's Office established an endowed scholarship fund for residents of Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County enrolled in the criminal justice program. Selection is based on scholastic achievement, and recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.





C.T. and Ellen Webster Scholarship

Richard C. Webster, son of the late C.T. and Ellen Ridgely Webster of Salisbury, provides $2,000 in scholarship funds each year for students enrolled in any of Wor-Wic's transfer programs. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Preference is given to students who have completed 12 or more credit hours at the 100 level or above. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.





Campus Based Educational Assistance Grant

The Howard P. Rawlings Campus Based Educational Assistance Grant (CBEAG) program is a need-based financial aid program that is designed to financially assist students that were not considered for the Howard P. Rawlings Educational Assistance Grant due to not filing his/her Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Maryland State Financial Aid Application (MSFAA) by the Maryland state deadline of March 1st. The CBEAG program is a state funded program which allocates funds to participating institutions each academic year to select and award students that are qualified for the CBEAG award. 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
You and your parents (if you are a dependent student) must be Maryland residents. You must enroll at a two-year or four-year Maryland college or university as a full-time (12+ credits per semester), degree seeking, undergraduate student.  Audited courses cannot be used to reach the minimum credit hours required for full-time status.  Students must have filed the FAFSA after the March 1st deadline and be eligible to receive the federal Pell Grant. 

Drug Free Certification Pledge
In accordance with § 18-111 of the Maryland Education Article, as a condition of receiving student financial assistance awarded by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), each recipient of State financial aid shall sign a statement pledging to remain drug free. Any student who receives the Maryland State Part-Time Grant, Maryland State Part-Time Dual Enrollment Grant, or Campus Based Educational Assistance Grant at Wor-Wic Community College is required by Maryland Higher Education Commission to provide written or electronic consent to the Drug Free Pledge, as a condition of receiving student financial assistance, to remain drug free for the full term of the award. Unlawful use of drugs and alcohol may endanger my enrollment in a Maryland College as well as my Maryland financial aid award.





Captain Bryan Lewis Scholarship

In memory of Captain Bryan Lewis, career firefighter/paramedic with the Salisbury Fire Department and a beloved co-worker and friend, the Salisbury Paramedic Foundation established an annual scholarship fund for students who are enrolled in Wor-Wic’s paramedic program, affiliated with a 911 EMS agency and have a State of Maryland Emergency Medical Technician certification. The scholarship funds are renewable for up to two years and can be used for tuition, fees, books and cost of attendance. Preference is given to students residing in Wicomico County.  





Charles L. Marshall Hotel Management Scholarship

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore provides scholarships each year from the Charles L. Marshall Hotel Management Scholarship. Applicants must be residents of the Delmarva Peninsula who have been accepted for admission as a full- or part-time student in the culinary arts, hospitality management, or a business student who plans to work in the hospitality industry. Applicants must display a strong academic performance. Preference will be given to applicants with work experience in the hotel or restaurant industry and who demonstrate a commitment to living and working on Delmarva after they complete their education. Recipients may reapply for a second consecutive year provided they are in the programs referred to above.

Each Cooke Scholar has access to generous financial support for two to three years, college planning support, ongoing advising, and the opportunity to connect with the thriving community of fellow Scholars.

Cynthia Ross Scholarship

Cynthia Ross, assistant professor of radiologic technology at Wor-Wic, provides $500 each year for students enrolled in the radiologic technology program. The scholarship is awarded in the fall term of the student’s second year of the program. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in their radiologic technology courses. Preference is given to students who have participated in healthcare related volunteer activities.  





Delmar Memorial VFW Post 8276 Scholarship

The Delmar Memorial VFW Post No. 8276 provides $3,000 in technology funding to honorably-discharged veterans from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force or Coast Guard who are enrolled in any credit program of study at the college. Funds can be used to purchase technology including but not limited to computers, laptops, software and accessories. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Students must see the Director of Veterans Services to provide a copy of their DD-214 or the equivalent. 





Delmarva Power Community Scholars Program (Credit)

The Delmarva Power Community Scholars Program provided $77,000 to support students who are residents of Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset or Dorchester Counties. Credit: Eligible students must be enrolled in a degree/certificate program in a STEM or energy related field. Preference is given to financial need and scholastic achievement. Scholarship awards are made to meet the direct educational expenses (e.g., tuition, fees and books) of students after all other financial aid has been applied to the student’s account.





Delmarva Power Community Scholars Program (Non-Credit) - Electrical Wiring Tech

The Delmarva Power Community Scholars Program provided $25,000 to support students who are residents of Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset or Dorchester Counties enrolled in a non-credit Electrical Wiring Technician course.

Donald L. Williard, Jr. Scholarship

Dr. Karie and Jeff Solembrino created the Donald L. Williard, Jr. Annual Scholarship for non-traditional students enrolled in a credit program taking 6 or more credits in a Health Professions program. The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, books and cost of attendance. Preference is given to students who are parents.  





Donnie Williams Foundation Scholarship

The Donnie Williams Foundation established a five-year $25,000 annual scholarship for rising third through ninth grade students enrolled in the Wor-Wic Community College Summer Scholars courses. Selection is based on financial need.  





Doris Calcott Scholarship

Betty Wootten and the late Richard S. "Dick" Wootten of Salisbury established an endowed scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in memory of Mrs. Wootten's mother, Doris Gay Calcott. Applicants must be graduating from high school in Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County and enrolled in an education transfer program at Wor-Wic. Selection is based on financial need, and recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in order to receive the scholarship for a maximum of two consecutive years.





Dorothy Warwick Smith Scholarship

Rick and Melody Nelson of Princess Anne established an endowed scholarship fund in memory of her mother, Dorothy Warwick Smith, a 1946 graduate of the Peninsula General Hospital School of Nursing who worked as a registered nurse for more than 40 years and retired as a public health nurse in Somerset County in 1987. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Applicants must be enrolled in the nursing program, and selection is based on financial need.





Dr. Paul Vineyard Scholarship

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore provides $3,000 in scholarship funds each year from the Dr. Paul Vineyard Scholarship for the benefit of Wor-Wic students who are enrolled in Dental Assisting Introduction or Radiology for Dental Assistants. Income from the endowment is used for tuition, fees and books. Selection is based on scholastic achievement with preference given to students with the greatest financial need.





Draper Family Scholarship

The Thomas H. Draper family (WBOC-TV 16 and Delmarva Online) established an endowed scholarship for computer studies students. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.





Driver Education Tuition Assistance

Wor-Wic Community College offers scholarship funding to assist eligible Worcester, Wicomico, and Somerset County residents with the 36 Hour MVA Driver Education Course. Students must be 16 years of age or older at the time of registration. 
 





Duke Marshall Scholarship (Credit)

The Duke Marshall Scholarship will provide $1,000 in scholarship funding for students from Somerset County who are enrolled in any credit program of study or workforce training (non-credit) courses that lead to certification or licensure. Duke Marshall Scholarship (Non-Credit)

The Duke Marshall Scholarship will provide $1,000 in scholarship funding for students from Somerset County who are enrolled in any credit program of study or workforce training (non-credit) courses that lead to certification or licensure. Eastern Shore Association of Municipalities Scholarship

MUNICIPALITIES – The Eastern Shore Association of Municipalities established an endowed scholarship at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for students enrolled at Wor-Wic on a full-time basis. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.





Easton Elks Lodge No. 1622 Scholarship

The Easton Elks Lodge No. 1622 established an endowed scholarship fund for students from Talbot and Caroline counties to attend Wor-Wic. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Applicants are selected in the following priority order: 1) students whose fathers or other relatives are members of the Elks; 2) students who have been accepted into Wor-Wic's certificate or associate degree nursing program; and 3) students enrolled in any other program of study. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.





Electronics Employers Scholarship

Local companies interested in developing a pool of skilled electronic engineering technicians for future employment opportunities have established an endowed scholarship fund for students majoring in the STEM engineering program. Contributors included Delmarva Power, K&L Microwave, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, RelComm Technologies and the former Filtronic Comtek and Lorch Microwave. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on scholastic achievement.





Elizabeth Pusey Scholarship

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore provides $10,000 in scholarship funds from an endowed scholarship fund established by the late Elizabeth Brittingham Pusey, a lifelong resident of Wicomico County. Applicants must be high school graduates from Wicomico County who are enrolled in a transfer program at the college. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.





Eric Monk Scholarship

The Tri-County Lodge of the Maryland Troopers Association established an endowed scholarship fund in memory of Maryland State Police Trooper 1st Class Eric D. Monk, who died in the line of duty in Somerset County in 1988. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Applicants must be residents of Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County and enrolled in the criminal justice program. Selection is based on scholastic achievement, and recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.





Eunice Crabtree Scholarship

Friends and family members of the late Eunice Helen Crabtree, who worked as a registered nurse in hospitals, nursing homes and private residences, established an endowed scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County students enrolled in Wor-Wic's nursing program. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average in order to receive the scholarship for a maximum of two consecutive years.

Operation We Care and its founder, Jeff Merritt, established an endowed scholarship at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for students enrolled in criminal justice. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Priority is given to children of a fallen officer.





Franklin and Gertrude Purnell Scholarship (Credit)

The L. Franklin and Gertrude H. Purnell Foundation provides $4,000 in scholarship funds each year through the Wor-Wic Community College Foundation for tuition, fees, books and cost of attendance for Wor-Wic students who are enrolled in a credit or non-credit healthcare program. Applicants must be residents of Worcester County with plans to practice on the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. Preference is given to students who are taking 12 or more credits or whom have completed one or more non-credit classes. Purnell Foundation provides $4,000 in scholarship funds each year through the Wor-Wic Community College Foundation for tuition, fees, books and cost of attendance for Wor-Wic students who are enrolled in a credit or non-credit healthcare program. Fraternal Order of Eagles Scholarship

The Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 4503 established an endowed scholarship at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for students graduating from high school in Wicomico County. Priority is given to students with the greatest financial need, with secondary consideration given to students planning to major in nursing, emergency medical services or law enforcement. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in order to receive the scholarship for a maximum of two consecutive years.





Frederick Howard Scholarship

Frederick L. Howard, a retired U.S. Navy senior chief, provides $1,000 each year for this scholarship, which pays tribute to veterans of the U.S. armed forces. Recipients must have been honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force or Coast Guard with a minimum of three years of active duty, and they must have completed at least 12 credit hours at Wor-Wic. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.





Garland and Vivian Bull Scholarship

The late Garland D. and Vivian J. Bull of Pocomoke City established a perpetual scholarship fund with a $20,000 donation to the Wor-Wic Community College Foundation. Income from the endowment is awarded in the following priority order: 1) nursing students from Pocomoke City; 2) radiologic technology students from Pocomoke City; 3) nursing students from Worcester County; 4) radiologic technology students from Worcester County; 5) nursing students from Somerset or Accomack County; and 6) radiologic technology students from Somerset or Accomack County. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Recipients must have and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. They must agree to work in either Worcester, Somerset or Accomack County for one year after their graduation from Wor-Wic. The scholarship funds are provided for a maximum of two years for full-time students and three years for part-time students. The funds are provided after the recipient successfully completes the term.





George Brous Scholarship

The late Rose M. Brous and her sons established an endowed scholarship in memory of her husband and their father, George N. Brous of Ocean City, who was a member of the original steering committee for the formation of the college in 1975. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

Gert Shockley Foundation Scholarship - Education

The Gert Shockley Foundation, established in memory of Gertrude W. Shockley, a member of the board of trustees at Wor-Wic Community College from 1980 until her death in 1991, provides two annual $2,500 scholarships for students majoring in education. Selection is based on financial need, and recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Funds are awarded for tuition and fees based on financial need.  





Harry Kelley Scholarship

Members of the Grand Ball of Ocean City Committee established an endowed scholarship in memory of the late Harry W. Kelley, mayor of Ocean City from 1970 to 1985. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships, which can be used for tuition, fees, books or any other related educational expenses at Wor-Wic. Recipients must be from Worcester County. Priority is given to Ocean City residents, with secondary consideration given to students enrolled in the hotel-motel-restaurant management program. Selection is based on financial need. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.





Henry and Nellie Parker Scholarship

The late Henry S. and Nellie T. Parker of Salisbury established an endowed scholarship fund for students from Wicomico County to attend Wor-Wic. Phyllis A. Vinyard of Salisbury established an endowed scholarship fund in memory of her husband, Henry Lee Vinyard Jr., an attorney in Salisbury for more than 35 years. Selection is based on financial need, and recipients must maintain a 2.75 grade point average.

The Insurance Market established an annual scholarship fund for students who are enrolled in Wor-Wic’s Risk Management and Insurance Associate of Applied Science program. The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore provides a scholarship each year from the Eisenhauer Living Legacy Criminal Justice Fund. Applicants must be in the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy or pursuing a criminal justice major. Applicants must maintain a 2.0 or higher grade point average. The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, books and cost of attendance. Preference will be given to residents of Wicomico and Worcester Counties.

The late James Hancock III, who worked at the Ocean City Police Department for more than 30 years, established an endowed scholarship fund for students majoring in a criminal justice degree or certificate program. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Preference will be given to residents of Worcester County.

The late Jim Dryden of Newark established an endowed scholarship fund for students from Worcester County to attend Wor-Wic. Income from the endowment is awarded to one student each term. Applicants are selected in the following priority order: 1) nursing students; 2) radiologic technology students; and 3) business students. The Maryland Law Enforcement Officers Inc. provides $1,000 in scholarship funds each year for this scholarship, which is named for the late John W. Spurrier Sr., a past president who served as chairman of the scholarship committee for more than 20 years. Students must be Maryland residents and enrolled in a criminal justice degree or certificate program. Recipients must maintain a high standard of excellence, and they must be employed or pursuing a career in the criminal justice field.

Friends, family members and co-workers of the late Julia S. Martin, a developmental reading faculty member at the college, established this endowed scholarship fund for students who are at least 23 years old and whose placement test scores indicate a need for one or more developmental reading courses. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Recipients must enroll in developmental reading during their first term at the college. Selection is based on financial need.

She re-enrolled to complete a degree in early childhood education, but she did not live long enough to achieve her goal. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on scholastic achievement and an essay submitted to the human services department head. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

The Society of Forty Men and Eight Horses veterans organization provides $1,000 each year for this scholarship, which pays tribute to veterans of the U.S. armed forces. Eligible recipients must have been honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force or Coast Guard with a minimum of two years of consecutive, active duty. Selection is based on scholastic achievement, requiring a minimum of 12 credit hours completed at Wor-Wic with a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 being maintained. Preference is given to a student pursuing an Allied Health degree program. Community involvement is a consideration for eligibility.

Friends and family members of the late Larry Spicer, an English faculty member and then Wor-Wic's dean of students from 1988-96, provide $500 in scholarship funds each year for students enrolled in any credit program of study from Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County. The late Lois E. Brunkhorst, RN, of Berlin, established an endowed scholarship for students enrolled in Wor-Wic's nursing or radiologic technology program. First preference is given to nursing students, with second priority to students enrolled in the radiologic technology program.

The Lower Shore Workforce Alliance (LSWA) provides funding for a variety of training courses and support services through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). WIOA funding can assist eligible Worcester, Wicomico, and Somerset County residents who are interested in gaining skills to advance in their current career or start a new career.

The following credit programs offered at Wor-Wic are eligible for WIOA funding:

The Marine Corps League Cohee Detachment No. 115 provides a $1,000 scholarship each year to a Marine or Navy student from Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County. Recipients must have been honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps or the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman or chaplain, with a minimum of two years of active duty. Selection is based on academic achievement, and recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average. 





Mark and Lucille Rudnick Scholarship

Mark Rudnick and the late Lucille Rudnick established an endowed scholarship fund for nursing students from Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County enrolled in NUR 223. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on scholastic achievement, with preference given to students who are involved in the nursing student organization. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.





Maryland Part-Time Grant

Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) provides the Part-Time Grant to Maryland public and independent colleges and universities based on the number of undergraduate part-time students with demonstrated financial need, who are enrolled in degree-granting programs at specific institutions. Recipients are selected by the institution. students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or submit the Maryland State Financial Aid Application (MSFAA) online through MDCAPS (for any applicant who is ineligible to receive federal aid but is eligible for in-state tuition).

Eligibility Requirements
  • You and your parents (if you are a dependent student) must be Maryland residents. 
  • You must enroll part-time (3-11 credits per semester)
  • You must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA or MSFAA
  • You must be enrolled in an associate degree program (certificate programs are not eligible)
Award Amount
Award amounts vary based on dependency status and number of credits enrolled per term.
Dependent Students
3-5 credits = $200
6-8 credits = $300
9-11 credits = $400
Independent Students
3-5 credits = $300
6-8 credits = $400
9-11 credits = $500

The award amount may adjust if the recipient makes changes to their course schedule after the initial offer is made.

Renewing an award
Eligible students must apply annually. Eligible students may receive a Part-Time Grant for a total of eight years.

Drug Free Certification Pledge
In accordance with § 18-111 of the Maryland Education Article, as a condition of receiving student financial assistance awarded by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), each recipient of State financial aid shall sign a statement pledging to remain drug free. Any student who receives the Maryland State Part-Time Grant, Maryland State Part-Time Dual Enrollment Grant, or Campus Based Educational Assistance Grant at Wor-Wic Community College is required by Maryland Higher Education Commission to provide written or electronic consent to the Drug Free Pledge, as a condition of receiving student financial assistance, to remain drug free for the full term of the award. Unlawful use of drugs and alcohol may endanger my enrollment in a Maryland College as well as my Maryland financial aid award.

Other MHEC Awards - Less Than 12 Credit Enrollment
Students who receive an Educational Assistance Grant, Guaranteed Access Grant, or Promise Scholarship that was approved for enrollment of less than 12 credits are not eligible for the Part-time Grant. If a student is awarded a Part-Time Grant and MHEC later approves them for the Educational Assistance Grant, Guaranteed Access Grant, or Promise Scholarship for less than 12 credit enrollment, then the Part-Time Grant offer will be cancelled regardless of the dollar amount of the award offers. 
 





Maureen Capelli Scholarship

Dr. Stephen L. Capelli, Wor-Wic's former senior vice president for academic affairs, along with other family and friends, established an endowed scholarship in memory of his wife, Maureen D. Capelli, an educator for more than 30 years. Income from the endowment is used for annual scholarships. Preference is given to students who are majoring in education who plan to transfer to a four-year college after earning an associate degree. Recipients must have completed at least 12 credit hours at Wor-Wic with a 2.5 grade point average, and they must maintain a 3.0 GPA each term in order to continue receiving the scholarship. 





Max Cooley Scholarship

Art and Billie Cooley of Salisbury established an endowed scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in memory of their son, Max, who was pursuing a degree in business at Wor-Wic at the time of his death in 2007. Recipients must be graduating from a public or private high school in Wicomico County. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.





MD Community College Promise Non-Credit Scholarship

The Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship is a last dollar scholarship that is available for the 2024-2025 academic year​​ to students who enroll at a Maryland community college. Eligible students can receive up to $5,000 to cover any remaining tuition and mandatory fee expenses Federal or State financial aid has been applied.

Maryland high school graduates or GED recipients who are eligible for in-state tuition and who are planning to enroll or are currently enrolled full time or part time at a Maryland community college in a sequence of non-credit courses that lead to licensure or certification may be eligible for the Promise Non-Credit Scholarship.

The medical staff of TidalHealth Peninsula Regional provides $1,500 each year for students who are enrolled in the associate degree nursing program. Applicants must be residents of Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement, and recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.





Michael and Joanna Abercrombie Scholarship

Michael and Joanna Abercrombie of Salisbury provide $2,000 in scholarship funding for students enrolled in the nursing program at Wor-Wic. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.





Michael McMullen Scholarship

Friends and family members of the late Staff Sgt. Michael McMullen established an endowed scholarship fund for students enrolled in the emergency medical services program. A 2004 EMS graduate and career firefighter/paramedic with the Salisbury Fire Department, McMullen died in 2006 as a result of injuries sustained while serving with the Maryland Army National Guard in Iraq. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on financial need, and recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.





Milton and Thelma Conner Scholarship

Friends and family members of the late Milton L. and Thelma C. Conner established an endowed scholarship fund in their memory. Mr. and Mrs. Conner were active in the hospitality industry in Ocean City for more than 40 years. Mrs. Conner was a member of Wor-Wic's board of trustees from the founding of the college in 1975 to 1996. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Applicants are selected in the following priority order: 1) residents of Worcester County; 2) residents of Somerset County; and 3) residents of any other county. Selection is based on financial need, and recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.

The Ocean City-Berlin Optimist Club will provide financial support for tuition, fees and/or books for students whose primary residence is in Worcester County, Maryland. Recipients must be 17-20 years of age and enrolled in a credit program taking 6 or more credits or enrolled in one or more non-credit courses, including continuing education or workforce development. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Selection is based on financial need. An effort will be made to award at least one student from each high school in Worcester County (presently Pocomoke High School, Snow Hill High School and Stephen Decatur High School).

Selection is based on scholastic achievement, and recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.





Pocomoke City Area Health Care Scholarship

The Pocomoke City Area Health Care Scholarship Inc. established an endowed scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for students enrolled in Wor-Wic's health care programs. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Recipients must have at least 15 credit hours toward the completion of the program, and they must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. First preference is given to residents of Worcester, Somerset or Accomack County, with second priority to residents of Wicomico County. They must agree to work in one of the four counties on the Lower Eastern Shore for one year after their graduation. The scholarship funds are provided for a maximum of two years for full-time students and three years for part-time students.





Porter-Rinnier Family Scholarship

Rinnier, established an endowed scholarship in memory of their parents/grandparents, Isabelle Toulson and Harold Lankford Porter, and Ethelyn Hopkins and Leslie John Rinnier. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships, which can be used for tuition, fees or books. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Applicants are selected in the following priority order: 1) office technology students from Wicomico County; 2) office technology students from Worcester or Somerset County; 3) accounting, business or computer studies students; and 4) other students. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.

Ray and Donna Hoy established an endowed scholarship for students enrolled in any credit program of study from Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County. Dr. Ray Hoy came to Wor-Wic in the summer of 2000, and served as the second president of the college until his retirement in August of 2023. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on financial need and academic achievement. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. This scholarship may also be used to support students who are dealing with economic challenges to provide holistic support while pursuing their educational objectives.





Richard Henson Scholarship

 An endowed scholarship for Wor-Wic students was established at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore with contributions received in memory of Richard A. Henson. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors from Wicomico County with a 3.0 grade point average. Selection is based on financial need, and recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in order to receive the scholarship for a maximum of two consecutive years.

Wor-Wic's criminal justice department established a scholarship in honor of Professor Emeritus Robert E. Almon (1976-1987) and in memory of Professor Emeritus Michael D. Gray (1980-2005). In addition to their significant professional contributions to law enforcement training on Maryland's Eastern Shore, both have made generous financial gifts to this scholarship fund. Applicants must be criminal justice students who are registered for six or more credit hours. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.





Robert and Glenda Clarke Scholarship

Robert and Glenda Clarke of Snow Hill established an endowed scholarship in honor of his parents, William J. and Wilda B. Clarke. Income from the endowment is used for renewable scholarships. Recipients must be residents of the Snow Hill High School service area. Selection is based on scholastic achievement, and recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Preference is given to first generation college students.

The Rotary Club of Salisbury provides $1,000 in scholarship funds each year for Wicomico County students who exemplify the principles of the organization. The principles of Rotary are based on honesty, fairness, high ethical standards, and international and community service. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.





Rotary Club of Wicomico County Scholarship

The Rotary Club of Wicomico County provides $3,000 in scholarship funds each year for non-traditional students. Students enrolled in at least 12 credits can receive up to $3,000 per year and those enrolled in six through 11 credit hours are eligible for up to $1,500. Applicants must live in Wicomico County and meet at least two of the following criteria: 1) 24 years old or older; 2) five years after high school graduation or GED completion; 3) a break in their education; 4) parenthood; and/or 5) full- or part-time employment. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement, and recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

Chapter V, Maryland, of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, established an endowed scholarship fund with a $25,000 donation in memory of Ruth R. Langeler of Salisbury, an educator, and a founder and charter member of the local chapter. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Preference is given to female students. Selection is based on scholastic achievement, and recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

Shore Distributors, a wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating, air conditioning and water-related systems, established an endowed scholarship fund for students in any credit program of study. Somerset County DEF Scholarship

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore provides scholarship funds each year from the Delmarva Education Foundation Endowed Scholarship for the benefit of Wor-Wic students who reside in Somerset County and are enrolled in one or more non-credit courses, including continuing education or workforce development. Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, books and fees. Selection is based on financial need.





Sons of Italy of Ocean City Lodge No. 2474 Scholarship

The Sons of Italy of Ocean City Lodge No. 2474 established an endowed scholarship for students from Worcester or Wicomico County to attend Wor-Wic. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Preference is given to students enrolled in general studies or business-related programs (accounting, business, computer studies, hotel-motel-restaurant management and office technology). Selection is based on financial need, and recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards for Women program provides funding to assist women who are working to better their lives through additional schooling and skills training.

Since 1972, the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards® program has disbursed more than $40 million to tens of thousands of women who have overcome poverty, domestic and sexual violence, divorce, the death of a spouse, or other life challenges. They are women—just like you—who had the courage and determination to turn their lives around.

Recipients may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, including books, childcare and transportation. The program begins on the club level, where award amounts vary. Club recipients become eligible to receive region level awards, which are granted throughout Soroptimist’s countries and territories. Currently, each Soroptimist region grants one first place award for $5,000. The Salisbury Club currently awards 1 award of $1500. The runner up receives $500.

The Soroptimist International Live Your Dream Award portal opens on August 15. Applicants will need at least one reference in their online application. The application portal is open for only 3 months.

  • Provides the primary financial support for yourself and your dependents. Dependents can include children, spouse, partner, siblings and/or parents.
  • Has financial need.
  • Is enrolled in or has been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.
  • Is motivated to achieve your education and career goals.
  • Resides in one of Soroptimist International of the Americas, Inc.’s member countries/territories (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guam, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Northern Mariana Islands, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, United States of America, Venezuela).
  • Has not previously been the recipient of a Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity or Live Your Dream Award.
  • Does not have a graduate degree and is not pursuing one currently.
  • Is not a Soroptimist member, an employee of Soroptimist International of the Americas® or immediate family of either.

Melody and the late Cal Lubben of Pocomoke City established an endowed scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in memory of their son, Spencer, who was working as a physical therapist technician and studying to be a physical therapist assistant at Wor-Wic at the time of his death. Applicants must be in the second year of Wor-Wic's physical therapist assistant program. Preference is given to residents of Worcester County. Selection is based on scholastic achievement and an essay submitted to the physical therapist assistant department head.





Stephen Capelli Scholarship (Credit)

Dr. Stephen L. Capelli, Wor-Wic's former senior vice president for academic affairs, along with other family and friends, established an endowed scholarship to commemorate his retirement from Wor-Wic after 33 years of service. Income from the endowment is used for scholarships for students enrolled in credit occupational programs that lead directly to employment after graduation. Recipients must have completed at least 12 credit hours at Wor-Wic with a 2.5 grade point average, and they must maintain a 3.0 GPA each term.  





Stephen Capelli Scholarship (Non-Credit)

Dr. Stephen L. Capelli, Wor-Wic’s former senior vice president for academic affairs, along with other family and friends, established an endowed scholarship to commemorate his retirement from Wor-Wic after 33 years of service. Income from the endowment is used for scholarships for students who enroll in non-credit courses that lead to certification or licensure. Recipients must meet all course prerequisites.





Steven Edward White Scholarship

The friends and family of the late Steven Edward White established an endowed memorial scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. In 1977, Steve White found his true calling when he began his volunteer service with the Parsonsburg Volunteer Fire Company. For twenty years, Steve was the Company Chief and also served in various roles as assistant chief, captain, president and board member. Steve was also a paid paramedic with the Company for 13 years. He was a member for a combined forty years. Applicants must be enrolled in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must be ambitious, driven and goal-oriented individuals with a public safety career goal. Preference is given to Worcester County residents.  





Thomas Hanley Scholarship

THOMAS HANLEY – The Thomas G. Hanley Trust established an endowed scholarship in memory of Thomas G. Hanley, a businessman and philanthropist who lived in Ocean City. He was the owner and manager of the Ocean Lodge in Ocean City and the Coral Reef Apartments in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Recipients must be from Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County and enrolled in the hotel-motel-restaurant management or business program. Selection is based on scholastic achievement with preference given to financial need. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.





Tom Tyson Scholarship

Cammy Tyson, along with other family members and friends, established an endowed scholarship in memory of her husband, Thomas N. Tyson, director of finance who worked at Wor-Wic for 31 years. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Recipients must be majoring in business, and they must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in order to receive the scholarship for a maximum of two consecutive years.





Tres Lynch Scholarship

The Bank of Ocean City provides $1,000 in scholarship funds each year for this scholarship, which is named for the late John B. "Tres" Lynch III, a second-generation member of the board of directors of the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association and co-owner of the Commander Hotel, who died in 2008. Applicants must be enrolled in the hotel-motel-restaurant management program, and working or planning to work in the hospitality industry. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.





VFW Meuse Post No. 194 and Auxiliary Scholarship

The VFW Meuse Post No. 194 and Auxiliary provides five $1,000 scholarships each year to five honorably-discharged combat veterans from Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County who are enrolled in any program of study at the college. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Recipients must have completed at least 12 credit hours at Wor-Wic, and they must maintain a 2.5 grade point average. Preference is given to a student who is a combat veteran and eligible for membership in a Veterans of Foreign War Post. Students must see the Director of Veterans Services to provide a copy of their DD-214 or the equivalent. 





Virginia Nicoll Scholarship

Family members of the late Virginia Holland Nicoll, RN, established an endowed scholarship in her memory. Born in Whaleyville, Mrs. Nicoll grew up in Berlin and enjoyed a successful 38-year career in nursing, serving for many years as director of nursing of the Wicomico County Health Department. Income from the endowment is used for the annual scholarships. Applicants must be residents of Worcester, Wicomico or Somerset County, officially admitted into Wor-Wic's nursing program and planning to work on Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.





Wicomico American Legion Post 64 Scholarship

The Wicomico American Legion Post 64 provides $2,000 in renewable scholarship funding to honorably-discharged veterans from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force or Coast Guard who have served a minimum of two consecutive years of active duty. Recipients must have completed at least 12 credit hours in any credit program of study at Wor-Wic and maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher. Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees and books. Preference is given to students who have community involvement. Students must see the Director of Veterans Services to provide a copy of their DD-214 or the equivalent. 





Wicomico Medical Society Scholarship

The Wicomico Medical Society established an endowed scholarship at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for students enrolled in a health related profession with an overall GPA of 2.5 or greater. Priority is given to students in healthcare professions for which there is a local shortage or demand for services. Selection is based on financial need.  





Wicomico Memorial VFW Post 10159 Scholarship

The Wicomico Memorial VFW Post 10159 and Auxiliary provides $3,000 in scholarship funding to honorably-discharged veterans from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force or Coast Guard who are enrolled in any credit program of study at the college. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Preference is given to: 1) combat veterans 2) veterans from Somerset, Wicomico or Worcester County, MD. Students must see the Director of Veterans Services to provide a copy of their DD-214 or the equivalent.
